A huge congratulations goes
out to the Ardtrea
Cumberland Beach
football team.

On Wednesday, October 19th,
the boys and girls played 4 games of football at the CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS. They fought very hard throughout every game
and came in FIRST PLACE, winning the City Championship Banner.

The team qualified for the
COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS and played at Burl’s Creek on Saturday, October 22nd. The team did very well and came within a
couple touchdowns of moving on to the quarter finals.

Mr. Castellani and Mr.
Hillyard are very proud of the team’s accomplishments this year and with how
well the players worked together and improved together as a team. Everyone knew and accepted their role, and
that was the biggest key to the team’s success.

A big thank you goes out to
Mr. and Mrs. Leach for their help in getting the football field ready,
supplying us with coffee and soup, and for bringing their tent to keep us
sheltered.

Thank you also to the parents
and staff members who came out to support us during our games. We really appreciated having some fans in the
crowd.

Last Thursday night the Ardtrea Boys Volleyball team travelled to Eastview in Barrie to face some of the counties elite teams. Althought the boys were not victorious, the experience was an important one. The teams that the boys faced have been working together for upwards of four or five seasons forming excellent team cohesion and skills. Playing the weakest teams first, the boys were beaten almost into submission. After some frank conversations and a few hard fought rallies, the boys began to fight back. In their last set the boys faced last year’s tournament winning team and took both games to 20 plus points. The marked improvement in their confidence, team play and skill was astonishing. It was evident in the boys next practice that the concept of team has become a new mantra for them. Looking forward the boys are off to face local power house Notre Dame on Wednesday. Good Luck!

Weeks of training and support from the whole school community payed off on Tuesday as the Mustang’s Cross Country Team travelled to Mount St. Louis for the annual Area Cross Country meet. Early in the first race it was obvious the Mustang’s were there to win as Haley P. crested the Mount at the head pack. She held a steady pace finishing 13th in the Gr4 Girls race. Karley Rimkey narrowly missed qualifying in the next race, placing 18th in the Gr5 Girls race. Lizzy G. and Hailee followed suit taking 7th and 15th solidifying spots in the county finals. Shortly after, Sam C. dominated in his Gr6 Boys race taking 5th overall securing a spot at counties. In the next, and probably most anticipated race of the day, Rhys took no prisoners winning his race and crushing the competition. Jared M. also pushed hard and secured a trip to the counties with a 16th place finish. Teegan followed suit with a 9th place for the Gr7 girls and making sure she would represent once again at counties. In one of the most exciting finishes the Gr8 girls showed their domination coming in as a pack with Heidi H. in the lead, followed by Cassie (18th), Sky (19th) and Naomi (22nd).

All Ardtrea competitors did an amazing job, tackling terrain and hills they did not get a chance to train on. What is clear is that this is just the beginning as many of the runners came back to school only to join right in with the daily SWEAT.
